We Can Only Imagine

The depth of one father’s love

I don’t think this is the first time you’ve heard about this father and son, but it was the first time I had seen this particular video set to this particular music.

And today, my father turns 87. In many ways, he has carried me as this father carries his son. “Thank you” and “I love you, Dad” seem inadequate to express the depth of the emotion behind those words.

There’s a story that says if we could but throw our personal burdens and issues into a pile, to have a chance to get rid of our burdens, and swap them for others…

most of us would willingly — gladly — take our own back after seeing what others bear.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is never proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

We can only imagine…
