Typecasting

Is it holding your company back?

Is it because our minds are closed?

Is it because of fear of failure?

Why do we consider only certain types for certain roles?

Why, for instance, can not an award-winning programmer of a music format be the perfect leader for a News/Talk station?

Is the knowledge of one format so specialized it can only be learned over decades?

Would a successful experiment somehow weaken our self-worth. If anyone can walk in off the street and run this station as well as I did, what does that say about me and my skills?

I think successful people are just that: They succeed, despite format, despite market size, despite typecasting.

And we limit our industry’s talent pool in a critical time by not opening our eyes to this fact.
