She is the youngest actor ever to be awarded the Primetime Emmy for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
If you’re a subscriber, you can watch it on demand. If you’re not, this all by itself, is worth the monthly fee. All of Season 1 is available right now.
Euphoria was another casualty of Covid-19. Production shut down, literally, 3 days before Season 2 was to begin filming.
I want to draw your attention to what the producer of Euphoria is calling “Special Episode 1”
The entire episode is a dialogue between two main characters: Ali, played by Coleman Domingo, who will probably win a Best Actor Award for this singular performance, and Rue, played by Zendaya.
Both are drug addicts. Rue is gay. She’s in love with a transsexual. There is constant profanity. If F-bombs bother you, this is not the series for you.
But if you want to watch TV at its best, at its most powerful and moving, you must watch this Special Episode.
Each of these three actors, in this scene, are brilliant. It is the only speaking scene with the waitress.
It is written so skillfully that it never feels like it’s scripted. There is not one false note during this hour-long special episode.
Take the phone off the hook. Prepare to be moved by words from actors at the very top of their craft.
