This Is Your Competition?

Seriously…

I’m pissed. Again.

It just bugs me that Radio, with its incredible reach and its inexpensive production costs, lags the Internet and Mobile when it comes to advertising.

Especially when I read headlines like these every day!

SNAPCHAT VIDEO ADS AVERAGE LESS THAN 3 SECONDS A VIEW

CHASE HAD ADS ON 400,000 SITES. THEN ON JUST 5,000. SAME RESULTS

SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT A STRATEGY

FACEBOOK REVEALS NEW ADVERTISER NUMBER FLAWS

The maddening part is that Radio has slashed its content producers to the bone in the never-ending effort to hit crazy revenue numbers set arbitrarily by corporate headquarter bean-counters.

We try to compete with phantoms by un-funding the very stuff we sell.

It’s bad enough that we let robber barons run our biggest consolidated radio companies, but slashing our own wrists because we think we have to garner the buzz mobile does is insanity.

Anything that doesn’t support better content on your station each time your songs stop is a distraction at best, a killer virus at worst.

Egads!

Someone stab me with a cattle prod and put me out of my misery.
