There Are No “Best Products”

A simple lesson from the master

This is quick, and simple, and probably right.

And it’s always useful to remind yourself of this, so print it and post it above your door, where you’ll see it every time you look up:

“There is no objective reality. There are no facts. There are no best products.”

“All that exists in the world of marketing are the perceptions in the minds of the consumers or prospects.”

“The perception is the reality. Everything else is an illusion. Period.”

It doesnt matter if your station is unique.

It doesn’t matter how many times you tell people you play the most music, or the best music.

The only thing that matters is how listeners FEEL about themselves as they listen to your station, because that feeling will be the one they choose to share — or not — with the significant people in their lives.

Does that make sense?
