We used to do an in-depth profile of a station’s “typical” listener and coach the talent to speak to this person individually. Sometimes we even put a picture of her in the studio so talent could look right at her and thus speak more personally to her.

I don’t know many stations that do that today.

If you don’t think knowing what your minimum viable audience is, you need to take 60 seconds and read THIS.

Seth often feels (to me, at least) like he’s talking about commercial radio. He is spot on today.

The secret to success is passion, the passion you generate listener by listener. Passion isn’t easily achieved when you’re thinking of millions of listeners.

Make one listener at a time glow with delight at what you just said. Repeat. And watch your ratings grow.
