The Answers

To all the questions.

I’ve only done “our” business during my career so I don’t know if this is true in every business.

But it’s definitely true for Radio.

The guys running Radio companies and especially the guys running radio stations are seduced by “the expert” who claims to have all the answers.

They want easy, quick fixes for complex issues. Hey, we’re all like that. Just look who we vote for in elections.

Most of these “experts” will never admit they not only don’t have all the answers, they don’t even know all the questions that need to be asked to fix your broken station.

Radio doesn’t need smarter people. This isn’t about IQ.

We need fewer insecure people: PDs, GMs and Regional Management confident enough to admit they don’t have all the answers.

And upper management and ownership patient enough to understand this.

As much as we would prefer it, Radio is not a science. Research can’t provide all the answers your station needs to be #1.

No one has all the answers.

You need someone who asks better questions.
