Sitting Together

Sitting Together

Waiting…

The meaning of the Inuit word “qarrstiluni” conjures up a striking image: ‘sitting together in the dark, waiting for something to happen.‘ ” (from the OnBeing Project and Krista Tippett)

Does it feel to you as if this is what we’ve been doing?

Sitting, fearfully, in the dark, waiting for something to happen.

Apprehensive. Melancholy. Filled with doubt and anger and aggression.

Well, now it’s time for you to up your game.

It’s time for you to remind me what we are, you and I – friends, compatriots with more in common than we acknowledge because we’ve spent 5 years, or 35 years focused on how we’re different.

We’ve been playing the blame game so long we think it’s the only game we know.

You can remind us that’s not true.

Come on, dazzle me today. Make me laugh out loud. Surprise me. Just take my mind off all of this.

Help me, for just a few minutes, to be in a better place emotionally and spiritually.

We’ve had our time of dividing. Let’s find and exalt those who can unite us now.

Can you do that?

Boy, there’s a lot of us hoping you can.

*We lost one of our greatest talents yesterday when Ron Chapman died. I had so many programmers and “air talent” tell me they just didn’t get Ron’s success. All he did was dominate Dallas ratings for a generation by focusing on listeners, not other radio people.
