Help them use their mind’s eyes
Remember when Radio was described as “Theater of the mind”?
Nothing is more potent than your imagination, which is why in the absence of facts, our minds can fill any vacuum with images that astound the senses.
How often do you do anything that requires a listener to use imagination?
Just as this video proves you can create fantastical worlds through shadow and the mind, words used skillfully can have the same effect.
Don’t believe me? Remember Orson Welle’s “War of the Worlds”? Maybe not. It was 70 years ago, when Radio still flexed its power by creating images in listeners’ minds.
