Out of Sight

It’s become clear that President Trump will not give Ukraine the help it needs to win the war with Russia. He doesn’t want to upset Putin.

As Israel’s surprise attack on Iran deflected our attention, Putin continued to bomb Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine, killing dozens just this week.

He even claimed that all of Ukraine belongs to Russia.

Irony defined?

After 40 months of waging full-scale war on Ukraine, Putin condemns ‘unprovoked aggression against Iran.’ Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Moscow has killed tens of thousands of Ukrainian civilians, and the true extent of the death toll is simply not known.(The Kyiv Independent)

Most of what I’ve heard about Israel’s war against Iran has said how grateful we all should be that the Israelis have done the world a favor by crippling the Iranian government.

How can we not feel the same way about the people of Ukraine?

Unlike Israel, which begged Trump and the United States to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites, Ukraine has never asked America to fight it’s battles.

All Ukraine asks for is the weapons, and the funding to produce their own weapons, to defend itself from Putin.

It is an undisputed fact that Russia invaded Ukraine. Only Trump says the war is not Putin’s sole responsibility.

I believe it will long be a moral stain against our government that we refused to continue to help Ukraine fight the Russian invaders following the election of Donald Trump.

Republicans control both houses of Congress. If the Republicans in the House and the Senate had the balls to stand up to Trump, aid could continue. The votes are there to fund it, but our current leadership is weak.

So, in the absence of real aid – of the offensive and defensive weapons Ukraine needs to win this war – we ordinary Americans are left with the option of helping as we can. I certainly hope you will.

First, educate yourself about what is actually happening in Ukraine. American media have lost interest in this war and you certainly won’t hear the truth from our current government so consider subscribing to The Kyiv Independent which will give you the facts on the ground in Ukraine. Or read the English versions of European newspapers where the war is front page daily.

Second, identify organizations helping the Ukrainian people survive Putin’s brutal war against them. The Leleka Foundation provides medical supplies in large backpacks to front-line medics, undeniably saving lives. You can make a donation HERE.

Or visit Charity Navigator and select one of their top-rated organizations, like United Help Ukraine, which has a 100% score! You can donate right now to help the people of Ukraine. Just click HERE.

If you haven’t given up hope on your elected leaders, contact them personally and ask them to vote to provide weapons and aid to Ukraine NOW. You can find their office phone numbers HERE.

Finally, share this post with your friends and family and ask them personally to make a donation right now to try to help the people of Ukraine survive Putin’s War on their homeland.

Ukraine is fighting for their democracy, against oppression from a brutal, murderous dictator.

Ukrainians are fighting for their lives.

They are not asking us to fight for them. They are just asking us to help support them.

How can we not?

Please help!
