One Life

Sure feels like history repeating itself, doesn’t it?

Some of these scenes have played out in our world over the past three years.

Desperate parents sending their children away, hopefully to safety. Bombed cities and hospitals. Air raid sirens. Death and destruction in every image we receive.

Some may claim later that they didn’t know or that they thought it could be controlled. We learned that lesson from World War II – or maybe not.

They were just following orders, right?

They were also afraid to question their leader.

What good could one voice do when so many were screaming their adoration and support?

The first lie we all tell is to ourselves, isn’t it?

Do you support Putin and his apologists, responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent Ukrainians, or those fighting – and dying – for their freedom?

It’s time to stand up for what’s right.

So, tell me, as Mary Oliver asked …

What will you do with your ‘one wild and precious life’?

This is a true story, and you will need several tissues before it ends because of that.
