Number 9

Harmony

Somehow, we have forgotten the beauty of our music.

We’ve forgotten that if everyone plays a different song at the same time, we don’t have an orchestra, we have a cacophony: jarring, discordant noise.

It doesn’t matter how skilled the musician, how practiced the voice, if none of us are on the same page.

America has often struggled to read our music, but when we do, when we all play the same song at the same time, we astonish the world.

We offer a glimpse of how a nation so diverse can join to become an orchestra.

And the beauty of our music brings joy and hope to the rest of the world.
