…
I doubt most viewers notice the subtle changes but those of us in the industry do, with great admiration for the attention to detail we know was involved.
5 years ago, Cadbury’s aired a spot called “Mum’s Birthday.” Here, watch:
Single mother with a young daughter hoping to give her mum a gift she’ll love on her birthday.
My kind of spot.
But what I love is that Cadbury just released a new spot which is a shot-by-shot remake of that ad to celebrate the company’s 200th year making milk chocolate bars.
Same adult actors in both but they had to use some “digital trickery” on the little girl because she had changed too much over the 5 years since the original was released. Here, watch the new one:
See how many changes you notice in the new one which begins with the “mum” finishing her job in 1824 and then gradually, scene by scene, moves through the years to 2024.
Still a really good spot!
