It’s So Easy

And that’s the problem…

It’s so easy to get comfortable.

It’s so easy to get complacent.

It’s so easy to find reasons not to push back, not to stick your neck out there on the chopping block.

It’s so easy to blend into the background, to seek the safest route, to settle.

It’s so easy to blame someone else, the person you report to, your company, Nielsen, your format.

It’s so easy to give up, to surrender, to tell yourself you’re justified in compromise so you can live to fight another day.

But when does that day come if not today?

Who will reignite your creative spark if not you?

Who should demand more of you than you?

It’s so easy to float with the current, to relax and let it take you where it will.

Swimming is hard work, and its dangerous. What if you can’t make it to the other side?

What if you drown?

Life isn’t meant to be easy.

Using words to make real, emotional connections with those who can only hear your voice isn’t easy.

How about it?

Will you float or will your swim?

It’s not an easy choice but therein lies success.

Remember when creating something new seemed natural?

Remember when you didn’t worry about criticism, when you didn’t need an answer to “Why?”

I do…
