Why does THIS touch us?

I’m a dog-lover so I get why it moves me.

But I’ve shared it with plenty of people who aren’t besotted with furry friends and they all react just as I did.

Here, watch:

Those are not his dogs. He’s not hugging them because he wanted to perform for a camera.

Why does it make me pause and reflect every time I think of it?

Because he’s showing compassion: “Deep awareness of the suffering of another accompanied by the wish to relieve it.”

And we don’t see much of that these days, do we?
