Barely Famous

The reality.

 

I’m not a fan of reality shows, and yet it’s impossible to escape them on the major TV networks.

So, while I found this late, it’s everything a reality show should be because it skewers our neurotic obsession with fame and the famous.

Self-deprecation has been used really effectively over the years in ESPN promos, and arguably the best American OLDIES station of all time — WBIG in Washington, DC — made it a feature of their success (until it was sold to iHeart), so this isn’t a new concept.

But perhaps because they’re able to get so many “stars” to play along with them, to poke fun at their own images, this is genuinely funny.
