A Tribute To Baxter

Saying goodbye to such a special dog

I got so many responses to the story about Baxter, the therapy dog, who died recently.

Baxter was almost 20 years old when he died, and had been a therapy dog all his life. Near the end of his life, when he could no longer stand or walk, his owner would carry him in a wagon, room to room, within a hospice, and if the person there liked Baxter, she would lift him up and place him in bed with the dying person.

Baxter always found a way to bring comfort and peace to those in the final hours of their lives, even as he, himself, grew weaker.

So, as a follow-up to those of you who were so touched by his life, here’s a tribute to Baxter.

If you love dogs, support your local animal shelter. They devote their lives to us. The least we can do is try to provide them with loving homes.
