Why Texting Must Be Part of Your Station

This one’s easy…

Do parents listen to your station?

Smart phone ownership is increasing dramatically throughout the developed world, so it’s a good bet more than half of your listeners have kids — or are kids — that text more than they talk on their mobile phones.

This TED talk made immediately clear why Radio must support and sponsor local crisis programs that feature texting.

If your town doesn’t already have this kind of outreach, build it.

It’s your community.

These are your kids.

Let them communicate in the way they know best and are most comfortable using.

This is about more than ratings, though that will be a side benefit of being locally involved and responsive.

This is about saving lives.
