What’s Your Goal?

Well…?

What’s your short term goal today?

What’s the long term goal for your life?

Do you have goals? Do you write them down? Do you measure your progress?

What if your goal was to personally and positively impact the life of one listener today?

What would you do to meet that goal? How would you know you succeeded?

It’s a cliche, but it’s a cliche that’s true: If you’re not getting better, you’re falling behind.

Complacency sets in without goals, without tangible proof that you’re hitting your goals.

A back injury years ago forced me into the swimming pool. My first day, it took longer to get into the pool than to swim the one length I could manage. The next morning, my shoulders were so sore, I had to bend my head down inside the sink in order to brush my teeth.

My goal became “Swim one more length today than yesterday” and slowly my fitness and distance increased until I was swimming a mile and a half in about 30 minutes.

I can’t tell you what your short and long-term goals should be but I know they cannot simply be “ratings” or “making X dollars a year.”

I know that by my own experience and that has shaped everything I’ve done since I acknowledged it.

What sort of impact do you want your life to have?

Answer that, honestly, and get ready for personal and professional growth.
