The Truth

Many, perhaps most, of you do not know that I feature a Quote of the Day every day, and have for over 20 years.

It started as a little thought-starter for friends and clients who became friends.

And as this or that friend asked if one of their friends could get on my mailing list, I just kept adding names.

I thought I might stop the emailed Quote of the Day once I built my web site, because I featured the new quote each morning right there on the Home page.

But I heard from enough subscribers that I’ve just kept right on sending that quote email every day.

Obviously, I put some thought into the timing of the quotes I use, and I select them far in advance of their publication on my site and the sending of the QOTD email.

I’ve changed today’s post. I replaced what I had planned to use. How could I not?

How can you not talk with your listeners about the attack on our democracy we all witnessed live, as it was happening?

How can we pretend its still fun and games time, and play Battle of the Sexes and trivia games?

Four lives were taken. One woman was shot. The hallowed grounds of our democracy were defiled and pillaged by common thugs in MAGA sweat shirts and dirty jeans.

Yesterday, early yesterday, at 7:30am mountain time in Colorado (9:30am eastern), I published this poem about America by Langston Hughes.

Please understand that I selected the Langston Hughes poem and the QOTD weeks ago.

It seemed appropriate given the constitutional action being undertaken yesterday by our Congress, which we all knew about since Election Day here in the US.

And if you are on my quote list, or if you’re one of the few who takes the time to click on the Home page after reading my blog, you would’ve seen this quote:

Let us not forget that violence does not live alone and is not capable of living alone: it is necessarily interwoven with falsehood. Between them lies the most intimate, the deepest of natural bonds. Violence finds its only refuge in falsehood, falsehood its only support in violence. Any man who has once acclaimed violence as his method must inexorably choose falsehood as his principle.” ~ Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

I have left it up as the Quote of the Day today.

It seems appropriate.
