And The Award Goes To…

Guess

I know I’m biased. Our son graduated from USC. We were there often and enjoyed every visit.

But, I don’t think my bias is so overwhelming that I’m wrong about this.

THIS is the best commencement speech of the season, and the reason it’s best is not because it’s delivered at USC by the wife of George Lucas, who is really funny and insightful and super successful in her own field.

It’s the best because it doesn’t pertain only to graduating students.

It’s as applicable to you and I as to our children, and the reminder may be coming at a great time for some of us.

You can’t be brave without fear.”

Maybe it’s time for you to jump into the great unknown.

Work is work and the joy it once offered is long gone. You feel trapped, stymied — your creativity dormant and unappreciated.

Remind yourself that you’ve done what this requires before, when you were younger.

Think how much more prepared you are now than you were then, take a deep breath, and step off the ledge you’ve been on all these years. You can’t be brave without fear.

“Only as high as I reach can I grow.
Only as far as I seek can I go.
Only as deep as I look can I see.
Only as much as I dream can I be.”
