A Soldier and His Dog

Still together…

Then out spake brave Horatius,
   the Captain of the Gate:

To every man upon this earth
   death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better
   than facing fearful odds,
for the ashes of his fathers,
and the temples of his gods.

Delta Honor Guard

I don’t know if every airline in every city honors our fallen this way, but I hope they do.

Every Delta employee on that tarmac has stopped, in the rain, to show their respect for these sacrificed lives.

I don’t know the name of this soldier. As you can see, this took place some time ago.

I do know he was a K9 soldier and that his dog was trained to sniff out IEDs.

And yes, the second, smaller casket contains the body of his dog, who was also killed in the line of duty.

Please note all the people watching from inside the terminal as well.

Well done, Delta. And thank you for honoring this soldier and his beloved dog.
